This is the first maxi-scooter from an Indian two-wheeler manufacturer.
Hero has officially launched the Xoom 160 at the Auto Expo 2025. The brand’s first maxi-scooter has been launched in the country at ₹1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which also makes it one of the most expensive scooters in the Indian market. But this premium asking price also gets you several features that are first for Hero.
For starters, the Xoom 160 is powered by a brand new 156 cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, making it the first and only Hero scooter to be available with so. This powerhouse is good for 14.6 bhp produced at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque available at 6,500 rpm, thus making it one of the most powerful scooters in Hero’s portfolio.
The Xoom 160 is built around a completely different frame that rests on conventional telescopic fork at the front, and dual-shock absorber for the rear wheel. The Hero Xoom 160’s rugged appeal is particularly noticeable at the front which is characterised by a small beak placed right under the dual-LED headlamp. The apron section gets lots of cuts and creases which further makes it look sportier, and lastly that upswept exhaust makes it seem quite purposeful.
Riding on large 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends, the Xoom has a healthy ground clearance of 155 mm.Yet at 787 mm, the seat height is quite accessible. Plus the wheels are shod with chunky 120/70- and 140/60- section block pattern tyres. A disc/ drum brake combination with single-channel ABS is available as standard.
Feature-wise, the Hero Xoom 160 packs a fully-digital LCD speedometer that get smartphone connectivity. So the usual suite of turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alert, etc makes its way here too. Along with that, Hero’s i3S silent start technology and a keyless ignition system with a smart keyfob are the other major highlights.
The Hero Xoom 160 has launched in a very niche segment where it barely has any competition. The only scooter that can give it some sort of competition is the Yamaha Aerox 155, but the Japanese scooter is more on the lines of a sporty scooter.
