Auto Sales August 2026: Honda 2Wheelers Sales Grow 8% As Exports Gain Momentum

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) reported total sales of 5,79,162 units in August 2026, registering an 8 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to the 5,34,861 units sold during the same month last year. The growth was driven by healthy demand in the domestic market, while exports continued to outperform with a strong double-digit increase.

The company's domestic dispatches stood at 5,17,329 units in August 2026, up 8 per cent from 4,81,021 units recorded in August 2025. Honda's consistent domestic performance comes amid sustained demand across commuter motorcycles and scooters, segments where the company has traditionally enjoyed a strong market presence through products such as the Honda Activa range, Shine, SP125 and the Unicorn.

Exports continued to be a bright spot for Honda in August, growing 15 per cent YoY to 61,833 units, compared to 53,840 units shipped during the corresponding month last year. For the first five months of FY2027 (April-August 2026), Honda recorded cumulative sales of 27,33,758 units, representing a 13 per cent increase over the 24,25,391 units sold during the same period in FY2026. Domestic sales during the April-August period reached 24,07,304 units, marking an 11 per cent YoY growth, while exports surged 31 per cent to 3,26,454 units, underlining the company's expanding global footprint.

HMSI had also recently unveiled 10 new products for the Indian market which included performance bikes, electric scooters, roadster, off-road bikes and also a premium ICE scooter. The Japanese brand will be banking on this new range of motorcycles and scooters to further amplify its domestic sales and some of the products will also be exported in the future.
