Activa still rules the roost while the Access 125 eyes for spot number 2
Scooters are the backbone of urban commuting. Their ease of use makes them a preferred choice for many commuters travelling from point A to point B. Below is a list of the top-selling scooters in the domestic market in July. We've identified some trends among them, and here's what you need to know about each.
Scooter | July 2024 | July 2023 |
---|---|---|
Honda Activa (both 110 cc and 125 cc models) | 195,604 | 135,327 |
TVS Jupiter (both 110 cc and 125 cc models) | 74,663 | 66,439 |
Suzuki Access 125 | 71,247 | 51,678 |
TVS NTorq 125 | 26,829 | 25,839 |
Suzuki Burgman 125 | 19,806 | 17,500 |
The Honda Activa continues to sell in large numbers due to its strong brand value. Although the product itself may not have many standout features, the brand trust earned over decades outweighs its offerings. It maintains a lead of 120,941 units over the TVS Jupiter, which takes second place on the list. Currently, Honda has not announced any plans for a scooter update, but they have mentioned plans to introduce an electric offering soon.

Regarding new products in the pipeline, the TVS brand is set to launch a new scooter soon, which might be an update to the Jupiter 110. This could be a strategic move to keep the brand fresh it hasn’t seen any major change in nearly 10 years. You can read about the expected updates to the TVS Jupiter here. Recently, the TVS NTorq 125 also received a refresh, featuring new colours and additional features.

Similar to TVS, Suzuki too has two products in this list. The Suzuki Access 125’s mileage has been incredible since the start and its sweet yet punchy riding characteristics make it an easy recommendation.
What is a positive sign for Suzuki and not so much for Honda, is that Burgman Street managed to eke past the popular Dio to the fifth spot. The more comfortable Suzuki 125 cc scooter has been a premium purchase for some time but it has managed to dethrone the sporty Honda scooter in July. Hopefully, for Honda, this is just a blip and normal service will resume shortly.
