Auto Sales March 2023: MG Achieves Highest Ever Monthly Sales; Credits Strengthening Semiconductor Supplies

MG Motor India sold 6051 units in March 2023, a growth of 28 per cent over the same month last year. This is an all-time high for MG India in terms of monthly unit sales. In February this year the company sold 4193 units, and compare that to the March and you'll notice that the month-on-month growth is significant too. The March sales are over 43 per cent more than February and MG Motor India has credited this success to the strengthening of semiconductor supplies. The company has been able to increase supplies through various localisation initiatives. In fact, the easing of logistical bottlenecks too has been a key factor in this achievement.

The company also launched the new-gen Hector last month and the momentum too for this product has been good. Rakesh Sidana, Senior Director – Sales, MG Motor India, said, "The Next-Gen MG Hector, India’s first internet SUV maintains its strong uptake in the market and has recorded its second-highest lifetime sales, since its launch, in the month of March."

The company is all set to bring its second all-electric product into the market in the form of the Comet and we got a glimpse of what it looks like in the spy images we took recently. While the company has said that the small EV will be launched in April, there is no set date yet.
