Kia India plans to launch the EV9 and the new Carnival in the second half of 2024.
Kia India has announced a year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth of 3.9 per cent for May 2024, with the sale of 19,500 units in the domestic market. This is a modest increase compared to the 18,766 units sold in May 2023. The company attributed its growth to the recent launch of new models and a strategic network expansion. The new Sonet, which hit the market in January 2024, was the highest-selling model for the month with 7,433 units sold. It was followed by the Seltos and Carens models, which sold 6,736 and 5,316 units respectively.
Hardeep Singh Brar – Senior Vice President and Head Sales & Marketing at Kia India, said, "So far in this year, we have been aggressive in introducing new competitive variants of our models, which has contributed significantly to our sales. With a robust network expansion strategy in place, we shall continue to grow in the rest of the year and cross the 1 million domestic sales milestone soon”.
In addition to its domestic sales, Kia India also dispatched 2,304 units to overseas markets in May, bringing the total production figure for the month to 21,804 units. This contributed to Kia India surpassing the milestone of exporting over 2.5 lakh units to more than 100 countries. The Seltos model was the major contributor to exports, accounting for nearly 60 per cent of the total, followed by the Sonet at 34 per cent, and the Carens at 7 per cent.
Over nearly five years, the company has sold more than 9.8 lakh units in the domestic market, with the Seltos alone contributing nearly 50 per cent of these sales. Looking ahead, Kia India plans to launch its two global models, the EV9 and the new Carnival, in the Indian market in the second half of 2024. These launches are part of the company’s strategy to further strengthen its market presence and continue its growth trajectory.
