It is the long wheelbase version of the Volkswagen Tiguan.
Volkswagen has unveiled the all-new Tayron SUV at the Beijing Motor Show 2024, marking its debut in the Chinese market as the Tiguan L Pro. Scheduled for an Indian launch in 2025, the Tayron shares similarities with VW's latest global SUV lineup, reflecting the rounded design language seen in the Tiguan. The top-spec R variants boast an aggressive front bumper with a contrast black finish, while regular variants offer a slightly toned-down appearance.

Measuring 4735 mm in length, 1859 mm in width, and 1682 mm in height, the Tayron's profile resembles the Tiguan, albeit with increased dimensions, particularly in the wheelbase. Noteworthy exterior features include blacked-out, flared wheel arches, and a well-sculpted tailgate complemented by wraparound tail-lamps and a connecting LED light bar.
Inside, the Tayron mirrors the minimalist dashboard design of the new 5-seater Tiguan, accentuated by a trio of screens comprising the main infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and passenger-side display. Additional interior highlights include new-look AC vents, a wireless charging pad, and a spacious storage area beneath the centre console. Feature-wise, the Tayron offers powered driver and front passenger seats with memory function, massaging seats, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, head-up display, dual-zone climate control, and an ADAS suite.
Powering the Tayron in China is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine available in two states of tune, paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox and optional all-wheel drive. Outputting either 182 bhp and 320 Nm or 215 bhp and 350 Nm, Volkswagen might introduce additional powertrains such as the 2.0-litre diesel and 1.5-litre petrol plug-in hybrid for other markets.

Based on Volkswagen’s MQB EVO platform, shared with the Skoda Kodiaq, the Tayron aims for global appeal, with production set to span China, Germany, Mexico, and India.
Upon its arrival in India, the Tayron will contend with rivals like the Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq in the competitive SUV segment.
