The Pulsar is likely to share its heart with its Austrian cousin.
It is finally confirmed! After shying away from offering a Pulsar larger than 200–250 cc, Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed that Bajaj Auto will be gearing up to launch its ‘biggest ever’ Pulsar to date. The timeline remains ambiguous, as the timeframe suggested is until the end of the current financial year, along with a couple of more Pulsar model updates. However, we think it could likely be as soon as November this year itself.
November 2001 was when the Pulsar brand came into existence with the Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180. Over the years, we have seen many family members born with the same name. Hence, we could possibly be getting the ‘biggest’ Pulsar yet in November itself. And it might be packing a lot of goodies that will make it stand apart from its Austrian or British cousins who are also operating in the same 400 cc-ish space. And it will certainly be a whole lot different than the Dominar 400.
What will it be packing? Well, we will get to that in a separate story but despite what is believed on the internet, we don’t quite think it will be the Pulsar RS400. It might just turn out to be naked to start off with, so a Pulsar NS400, and then followed up with an RS400. Hopefully, this new ‘big’ Pulsar will have a redesigned look for the NS family, a design language that hasn’t evolved at all in over a decade.
Alongside this ‘big’ Pulsar, Bajaj will also have a flurry of updates for its existing Pulsar models. There are six new model upgrades incoming from now until March 2024. Some of these updates will extend to the likes of the Pulsar NS200 and RS200, which as mentioned earlier haven’t seen a significant enough change ever since their inception.
With the likes of the KTM 250 Duke, Triumph Scrambler 400 X and even the Husqvarna 401s slated for an India launch by the end of FY24, Bajaj Auto is cashing in on a big year ahead. Fun times are guaranteed!
