Upon launch, BMW F 450 GS will lock horns with KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
BMW Motorrad is all geared up to launch the highly-anticipated F 450 GS today. The concept prototype of the adventure tourer broke a couple of years back while the production-spec model made its debut at EICMA 2025 in Milan, Italy last November. It will be the new entry-point to BMW’s GS lineup globally after the G 310 GS was discontinued last year.
The F 450 GS is based on an all-new platform developed jointly by BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company. The adventure tourer will be built locally in India at the latter’s Hosur-based facility, with production having already commenced in late 2025. Bookings for the F 450 GS commenced earlier this week at all BMW Motorrad dealerships across the country, with deliveries expected to commence next month.
The BMW F 450 borrows much of its design language from its bigger GS counterparts, including the R 1300 GS, resulting in a look that feels both sharp and functional. Up front, the bike carries the familiar beak-style nose that reinforces its adventure-focused character, while the sculpted fuel tank and pronounced side panels add to its muscular appeal.

One of the more striking elements is the front fascia, highlighted by X-shaped LED daytime running lights that give it a contemporary edge. Moving toward the rear, the slim tail section ties everything together neatly, balancing sportiness with a rugged stance. Overall, the F 450 comes across as equally suited to everyday urban riding as it is to tackling rougher terrain.
BMW offers the F 450 GS a comprehensive list of features aimed at enhancing both convenience and rider comfort. This includes a fully digital 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster that comes with smartphone connectivity along with essential ride information. Other highlights include an easy ride clutch, adjustable brake and clutch levers, and heated grips for improved comfort in varying conditions. The motorcycle also comes with Quickshifter Pro, enabling clutchless gear changes and making long-distance riding more seamless.

The suspension setup on the BMW F 450 GS includes 43 mm upside-down front forks with adjustable settings, along with a rear monoshock offering 180 mm of travel at both ends. The bike is likely to tip the scales at around 175 kg, though the final kerb weight could be a bit higher. The adventure tourer rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoked wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres. This configuration is aimed at striking a good compromise between off-road performance and stability on paved roads.

Powering the BMW F 450 GS is an all-new 420 cc parallel-twin engine producing 48 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. It features a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter.
Internationally, the F 450 GS is available in four variants namely Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and GS Trophy. The same variants are expected to be offered in the India-spec model. Price for the BMW F 450 GS is expected to hover around ₹4.50-5.00 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant.
