BMW Motorrad India has put F 450 GS bookings on hold after all current allocations were sold out.
BMW Motorrad India has paused bookings for the recently launched F 450 GS adventure motorcycle following overwhelming demand, with dealer sources indicating that all currently allocated units across variants are sold out.
The move comes just months after the F 450 GS entered the Indian market in April as the successor to the G 310 GS. While customer deliveries are yet to commence, waiting periods have already stretched beyond six months in several markets, highlighting strong interest in BMW’s new middleweight adventure tourer.
According to dealer sources that ACKO Drive spoke to, bookings for the Base and Exclusive variants are expected to reopen by the end of July, subject to fresh allocation availability. The range-topping GS Trophy variant, however, is understood to be fully booked until October, effectively pushing delivery timelines further into 2027 for some customers. ACKO Drive reached out to BMW Motorrad India for a comment on this, but has not received a reply yet.
The situation appears particularly acute in major metropolitan markets. Dealers in Mumbai and Bengaluru are reportedly quoting waiting periods approaching a year, reflecting demand that has outpaced current supply. The temporary booking suspension is believed to be aimed at managing order backlogs and preventing waiting periods from expanding further.
Priced from ₹4.70 lakh (ex-showroom), the F 450 GS represents a significant step up from the outgoing G 310 GS in terms of performance and positioning. The motorcycle is offered in three trims — Base, Exclusive and GS Trophy — allowing BMW to target a wider range of adventure motorcycle buyers.
Powering the F 450 GS is a newly developed 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 48bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and has been engineered to meet the growing demand for more capable mid-capacity adventure motorcycles.
The model is manufactured at TVS Motor Company's facility in Hosur, near Bengaluru, under the long-standing partnership between BMW Motorrad and TVS. Local production has enabled BMW to position the motorcycle competitively within India's increasingly crowded adventure touring segment.
The booking pause underlines the strong response received by the F 450 GS at a time when demand for adventure motorcycles continues to expand across the Indian market. Buyers are increasingly gravitating towards versatile motorcycles capable of handling both daily commuting duties and long-distance touring, prompting manufacturers to strengthen their offerings in the segment.
If dealer timelines hold, fresh allocations for the Base and Exclusive variants could help ease waiting periods later this year. However, sustained demand suggests the F 450 GS may continue to face supply constraints in the near term as BMW Motorrad works to ramp up production and clear its growing order book.
