Citroën has released the first teaser of the Basalt Dark Edition, marking the latest addition to its expanding special edition lineup. The French automaker had previously hinted at introducing Dark Editions across its current model range, with the Basalt now confirmed to be the first to receive this treatment. More details, including variant-specific features and pricing, are expected to be revealed soon.
In the teaser, the Basalt Dark Edition sports a new black paint scheme complemented by blacked-out elements such as the wheels and skid plates, giving the compact SUV a more aggressive and stealthy appearance. The interior is expected to follow a similar theme, featuring black upholstery and glossy black accents, though Citroën has yet to disclose full details.
Mechanically, the Basalt Dark Edition is likely to be based on the top-spec Max variant, which is currently equipped with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. This powertrain delivers its output through either a 6-speed manual transmission or a torque converter automatic, both of which are expected to be available in this special edition.
Citroën has not confirmed the official launch date or pricing for the Basalt Dark Edition, but an announcement is anticipated in the coming days. Following this release, the carmaker is also set to introduce the C3 Dark Edition, further broadening its special edition offerings.
