Both the C3 Aircross and Elevate have enter a crowded compact SUV space in India but how do they compare to each other?
The midsize compact SUV space just got a little more crowded with the recent unveiling of the Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross. Both have a lot to offer in terms of space, features, fuel economy and more. Since these two are the newest kids on the block, we’ve broken down how they compare to each other.
Dimensions & Seating Capacity:
The Honda Elevate has a length of 4312 mm, a width of 1790 mm, and a height of 1650 mm. It sits on a ground clearance of 220 mm and offers a wheelbase of 2650 mm.
It has a boot space of 458 litres, and the rear seats have a 60:40 split to enhance boot space further. Furthermore, the Elevate only comes with a 5-seat version, while the C3 Aircross will get a 5-seat as well 7-seat version.

The Citroen C3 Aircross, on the other hand, has a length of 4323mm, a width of 1796 mm, and a height of 1669 mm. It sits on a 200 mm ground clearance and has a boot space capacity that ranges from 444 to 511 mm. In the 7-seater version, the second row can be split at 70:30, while the third row can be removed to free up more space for the boot. Accessing the third row requires a one-touch tumble of the second-row seats.
Engine & Gearbox:
The Honda Elevate comes with a 1498 cc, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine which churns out 119 bhp @ 6600 rpm and 145 Nm @ 4300 rpm.
The tried & tested 1.5-litre iVTEC can be had with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed CVT gearbox.

The C3 Aircross comes equipped with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 110 bhp and 190 Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
There is no automatic gearbox on offer.
Variants & Features:
The Japanese automaker has offered the Elevate in four trims - SV, V, VX and ZX. The entry-level SV variant gets the front two airbags as standard along with LED projector headlamps and automatic climate control.
The top-end ZX variant gets goodies like the Honda Sensing ADAS suite, six airbags, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Agile Handling Assist (AHA). The Elevate also gets Honda’s connected car tech with smartwatch compatibility and Alexa remote capability. There’s also a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system on offer.
The Citroen C3 AirCross is available in just 1 variant called the Max and includes a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.2-inch infotainment screen with connected car tech.
There’s also wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on offer. There’s start/stop functionality and hill-hold assist as also a tyre pressure monitoring system. There is no sunroof on offer.
Mileage:
Honda claims that the Elevate offers a fuel economy figure of 15.31 kmpl for the manual, while the CVT returns 16.92 kmpl. Citroen has also recently announced its fuel efficiency details and it stands at 18.5 kmpl. Do note that these figures are ARAI-certified.
Pricing & Rivals:
Both the Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross are yet to be launched in India. However, ex-showroom prices can be expected to range between Rs 11 lakh to Rs 18 lakh for both these upcoming compact SUVs. As far as rivals are concerned, the C3 Aircross and Elevate go up against the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and MG Astor.
