Toyota recorded a 7% rise in total sales for May 2026, reaching 33,128 units. The company also surpassed the 3 lakh mark for strong hybrid vehicle sales in the Indian market.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has reported total sales of 33,128 units for May 2026, marking a 7% growth compared to the 30,864 units sold during the same month last year. The company's performance was bolstered by steady demand in the local market and a jump in overseas shipments.
Domestic dispatches for the month stood at 30,574 units, reflecting a 4% increase over the 29,280 units recorded in May 2025. Exports witnessed a much sharper rise, growing by 61% to reach 2,554 units compared to 1,584 units in the year ago period. On a cumulative basis for the January to May 2026 period, the manufacturer has sold 1,70,322 units, which is a 17% improvement over the 1,46,021 units sold during the first five months of 2025.
A major highlight for the month was the company crossing the milestone of 3 lakh strong hybrid electric vehicle sales in India. This achievement highlights the increasing consumer shift towards cleaner mobility and hybrid technology.

Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at TKM, noted that the sales performance is a testament to the positive market reception of Toyota's products and the overall brand experience.
The five month domestic sales total reached 1,57,225 units, showing 16% growth, while year to date exports rose by 20% to 13,097 units. The company continues to see strong momentum across its portfolio as it supports the transition of India towards carbon neutrality through its multi pathway approach.
