The Urban Cruiser Ebella will cost ₹15.25 lakh in India with the BaaS scheme. Buyers will also have to pay ₹4.99 per kilometre as the battery EMI.

Toyota India yesterday announced the price of its Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV, or at least one variant of it. At ₹23.6 lakh, Toyota’s first EV in India is positioned as a premium offering in its segment. However, this price applies to one variant, named E3, which ships with a 61kWh battery. The company’s website still lists a 49kWh option, which indicates that lower-priced variants could be offered in the future.

The company also announced that the EBella will be available with a BaaS (Battery as a Service) option, which means buyers own the car but not its battery. Replacing ownership with a subscription charge lowers the up-front cost.

We now have confirmation that the Toyota Ebella will start at ₹15.25 lakh in India with the BaaS scheme. Buyers who opt for this will have to pay ₹4.99 per kilometre as the battery EMI cost. Additional financing schemes are also set to be available.

While this is a massive reduction in upfront cost, Toyota has not confirmed whether it applies to the same E3 variant with the same 61kWh battery. ACKO Drive has reached out to Toyota and other industry sources, and will update this report with further information as it becomes available.

Other details include an assured buyback offer, with buyers getting 60 percent back after three years, subject to terms and conditions. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella will also have an 8-year warranty on the battery. Further details are not yet known, but as per industry standards, such terms usually apply only to a car’s first registered owner.

Buyers are also still liable to pay for all charging. Both AC and DC fast charging are supported via the CCS2 standard, for versatility. The company claims a 10-80 percent charge in 45 minutes using DC fast charging.

Toyota says it has established over 500 service touchpoints across India, equipped with EV-specific diagnostic tools and infrastructure. The company has also trained over 2,500 technicians to handle electric vehicles, and says buyers can expect 45-minute express maintenance in some cases.

Formally unveiled in January this year, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella is a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It promises spacious interiors, a premium cabin, and great performance. Features include premium LED lighting, dual-tone cabin finishes, 18-inch alloy wheels, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting with 12 colour options, sliding and reclining rear seats, a panoramic roof, and premium JBL sound system.

For comparison, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is available starting at ₹10.99 lakh with a ₹3.99/km battery EMI for the 49kWh Delta variant under its own BaaS scheme, or ₹15.99 lakh outright. The 61kWh Zeta variant costs ₹11.99 lakh plus ₹4.39/km, or ₹17.49 lakh outright. All prices are introductory and ex-showroom.

The Ebella has a 10.25-inch digital cockpit and 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In terms of safety, Toyota has equipped this car with L2 ADAS, seven airbags, and 360-degree cameras. It also promises a high-tensile body structure.
