The Benelli TRK 902 Xplorer Concept slots above the TRK 502 and TRK 702.
At the ongoing EICMA 2024 motorcycle show, Benelli displayed several new motorcycles. But one of the most crucial offerings was the brand's new flagship adventure bike. Although showcased in a concept form, the new Benelli TRK 902 Xplorer Concept builds on the success of the TRK 502 and TRK 702 – however, it is entirely new from the ground up, right from its platform to its engine. But let's first start with the looks.
The front of the bike is characterised by an aggressive headlight cluster and with a short yet distinctive beak design. Mind it, there are no tall windscreens here, instead, you get a shorter one which fits in very compact to the cowl and is available with electronic adjustability. The fairing looks dramatic, and the blue/neon combination that the brand calls "Jungle Fog" gives a nice funky and premium appeal. In an otherwise sleekly proportional, neat design, the tail section stands out with white side panels.
As mentioned earlier, the TRK 902 Xplorer concept debuts a new platform. As part of that, it is built around a trellis architecture sprung by an USD fork and a monoshock. Details about the underpinnings and their exact specifications, like suspension travel are still under wraps. It rides on a 19-/17-inch spoke wheel combination shod with Pirelli Scorpion tyres. The tank size is a massive 22-litre, which should help make this quite the tourer. Lastly, Benelli is also providing a toolbox that is located underneath the pillion's seat.
Nestled below the frame and acting as the stressed member is the new 904 cc, parallel-twin cylinder engine. Benelli claims that it can produce up to 100 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque. Interestingly, this new mill is an evolution of the QJ Motors' 800 cc unit, which Benelli hasn't shied away from acknowledging that.
Beyond these, Benelli has yet to reveal the kind of features the TRK 902 Xplorer will come with. It will definitely get a fully digital TFT display, and along with that, the modern suite of connectivity features should also be available. But what kind of off-road-centric features will also be at your disposal—after all, the bike is riding on block pattern off-road tyres.
Benelli is yet to reveal when it plans to bring the new TRK 902 Xplorer Concept to production. The TRK 702 and TRK 502 have warmed up the market, and it was high time that the Chinese-owned Italian two-wheeler marque brought a bigger iteration of the TRK badge. So, hopefully, sometime in 2025, we expect the new Benelli TRK 902 Xplorer will hit production.
