At the 2024 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy, BMW Motorrad surprised everyone by showcasing the new 450 GS concept. This new ADV bike will be positioned above the BMW G 310 GS, which is currently being manufactured by TVS Motor at its manufacturing facility in Hosur. Whether this upcoming BMW F 450 GS will be manufactured in India or not remains to be seen, but we hope it does so as the pricing is approachable for Indian bikers.
Coming back to the motorcycle, the styling is heavily influenced by the BMW G 1300 GS. You can see the same X-shaped headlight, tall windscreen whereas the fuel tank shape and the fender is similar to that of the G 310 GS. The bike features a flat seat and a high mounted exhaust muffler, the above components might be redesigned in the production-spec bike to offer better comfort and to adhere to stringent emission norms.
Powering the bike is a 450 cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine pumping out 48 bhp, while torque figures haven’t been shared. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed gearbox. The BMW F 450 GS features a TFT screen and rotary knob on the LHS switchgear as seen on premium BMW motorcycles. So one can expect multiple ride modes, cornering ABS and even traction control to be present on the bike. At 175 kg, the new BMW 450 cc ADV bike is even lighter than the current KTM 390 Adventure which runs on a single-cylinder engine.
The frame seems to be an all-new unit and it rests on a USD fork and a monoshock unit, both the units seem to be non-adjustable. The bike rides on 19/1- inch spoke wheels setup and it seems to have good ground clearance as well. The BMW F 450 GS concept can be seen rolling on knobby tyres. We expect the production version of the new BMW bike to be unveiled by late 2025 and if it does get manufactured by TVS, we’re looking at an India launch in early 2026.
