The much delayed bigger XPulse has received a new lease of life.
While the Hero Xtreme and the Karizma XMR got a makeover at the 2024 EICMA motorcycle show, the XPulse was kind of ignored. Both the former motorcycles got updated with a new 250 cc engine, revised bodyworks and hardware updates. As for the 2025 Hero Xpulse 210, it just got a bunch of new features, but continues to be powered by the same 210 cc engine. When we quizzed Hero officials why the baby ADV didn’t receive the larger displacement engine, we got to know that something big has been planned.
And it’s big news as Hero will be showcasing the XPulse 420 in a concept form. Now, this doesn’t come as a surprise as the XPulse 420 project has been long delayed as the concept was showcased in 2019 but then Hero ran into some issues with the engine. In fact, there were also rumours that Hero might shelve the project, but gladly that didn’t happen as test mules of the bike were spotted undergoing winter testing in Ladakh. The new XPulse 420 has been redesigned from the ground-up which means an all-new chassis and engine components. The 420 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine is expected to offer over 40 bhp to take on the upcoming 2024 KTM 390 Adventure, specs for which hasn’t been revealed yet.
The Hero XPulse 420 might be unveiled in its production form in 2025 and is likely to go on sale in 2026 as Hero hasn’t been prompt when it comes to launching new products. A good example of the same are the Hero Destini 125 and Xoom range of scooters.
