The bobber is going be launched by the end of the year
It has been a long wait for the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 as we have spotted it on test once again. First shown as the SG650 Concept at EICMA 2021, the Shotgun 650 bobber was due to arrive shortly after its more traditionally styled cruiser sibling, the Super Meteor 650. It is due for a launch this year, hopefully towards the end at Royal Enfield’s biggest biking carnival: Rider Mania.
Not only have we spotted the Shotgun 650 but also got some interesting tidbits about it. For starters, it carries over the same torquier engine tune for the 648 cc parallel-twin motor from the Super Meteor 650, i.e. 46.4 bhp and 52 Nm. But it will have no real performance advantage as it weighs just a kilo lighter than the SM 650.
The wheelbase number in the document seems like a typo. Like we have mentioned in our previous Himalayan 452 details revealed story, it is unlikely that Royal Enfield has managed to chop 35 mm from the wheelbase of the Super Meteor 650 for the Shotgun. Hence, the 1510 mm wheelbase figure mentioned in the adventure tourer bike’s document seems more plausible for this bobber, thus making it 10 mm longer than the cruiser.
Whatever be the case, we shall know more details about both the Himalayan 452 and the Shotgun 650 at this year’s Rider Mania, which is scheduled to take place on November 24-26.
