Exclusive: Upcoming MG Windsor To Have Over 200 mm Ground Clearance

JSW MG Motor India has once again teased the Windsor EV. We can exclusively tell you that the upcoming EV will have a ground clearance of more than 200 mm. The Wuling Cloud EV – the one Windsor is based on – has a ground clearance of 150 mm. Sources tell us that the Windsor has been specifically modified for India.

The teaser shared by JSW MG Motor India shows the Windsor tested at the Chang La and Wari La passes in Ladakh. This further solidifies the fact that tuning the Windsor specifically for India, with a better ground clearance, was an important aspect for the brand. While other dimensions of the Windsor remain under wraps, it can be expected to measure 4295 mm, 1850 mm and 1652 mm in length, width and height, respectively and has a wheelbase of 2700 mm.

For perspective, the Windsor’s ground clearance will be more than the new Citroën Basalt (180 mm), Hyundai Creta (190 mm), Kia Seltos (190 mm) and even the MG ZS EV (177 mm). A ground clearance figure of more than 200 mm will help the MG Windsor tackle any kind of terrain in the Indian landscape.

The Windsor is the second Wuling model that will be rebadged as an MG model in India. The first was the MG Comet which was a rebadged version of the Wuling Air EV. Now since MG is changing the ground clearance of the Cloud EV for India, it remains to be seen if other specifications and features will also become India-specific. The Wuling Cloud EV has a 50.6 kWh battery pack that gives it a claimed range of more than 450 km. It also gets DC fast charging support that allows it to charge from 30 - 80 per cent in around 30 minutes. With the AC charger, it can charge from 20 - 100 per cent in seven hours. The Wuling Cloud EV gets a front axle-mounted electric motor with 134 bhp and 200 Nm, paired with a single-speed transmission.
