The co-developed Harley-Hero motorcycle will be the most affordable offering from the Milwaukee-based two-wheeler maker.
The first product from the Harley-Davidson & Hero MotoCorp tie-up is finally here and will be called Harley-Davidson X440. Along with the name, Harley-Davidson has also announced to launch the Roadster on July 3, 2023. Additionally, the co-developed Harley-Hero motorcycle will be the most affordable offering from the Milwaukee-based two-wheeler maker, expected to be priced around Rs. 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which puts it in the same league as the upcoming Triumph-Bajaj motorcycle as well as the soon-to-be-launched Royal Enfield 450.
Developed at Hero MotoCorp’s Global Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, Rajasthan, the upcoming Harley-Davidson X440 will share engine details with the upcoming Hero XPulse 400 that the company is developing, and will debut very soon. This X440 will be powered by a 421 cc single-cylinder engine, developing around 40 bhp and 35 Nm of peak torque.
Moreover, it is also speculated that the new motorcycle will come with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. The bike is likely to have a top speed of around 160 kmph.
The Harley-Davidson X440 is a naked motorcycle that looks sporty and aggressive, very much like a puny XR1200. It features a muscular fuel tank, LED headlamps, and an upswept exhaust. The bike also comes with a digital instrument console, which provides all the necessary information to the rider. Even the chassis is developed from the ground up.
