We already knew before that the upcoming Honda Activa-E will be available with swappable batteries.
November 27 is just around the corner when Honda will launch its first electric scooter in India. Ahead of that, the Japanese brand has warmed up to the occasion with several promo videos. From all these teasers, we already know that the electric scooter will feature dual-swappable batteries, a fully digital instrument cluster with n-number connectivity options, and all-LED lighting. Honda has now released another teaser giving us a sneak peek of the scooter’s charging port and its charging cable.
Unlike conventional charging cables, which can be big and heavy, Honda’s teaser showcases a very compact-sized charging cable. The plug’s small structure is given away by the manner it is being held by just two fingers. Usually, the bulky nature of charging cables generally requires you to grasp it with your palms fully and push it with force. With Honda’s cable, all you need to do is pinch it and give it a slight push to connect it to the charging port — as has been demonstrated in the teaser video.
The convenience on offer here is further amplified when you factor in the fact that it will be available with swappable batteries. So you can remove the battery and charge it at home. While the inclusion of swappable batteries will eat into its boot space, the practicality of the compact charging cable is an appreciative move.
Honda’s debut electric scooter for the Indian market will launch amidst quite the tough competition. From Bajaj to TVS, even new players like Ather and Ola have been quite influential in this segment and have raked in quite strong sales performance too over the past few months. Will Honda’s upcoming electric scooter, which we think will be called Activa-E to ensure the continuity of its popular badge Activa, be able to topple the competition? Is something we are really excited about in the future.
