The upcoming 390 Enduro R will be KTM India's most hardcore sub-400 cc offering yet, with a proper dedicated setup for off-roading.
KTM India is all set to make a big splash this weekend in Goa at India Bike Week. The brand confirmed that it will showcase the new 390 Adventure R and Enduro R – two important bikes that drew significant attention last month in Milan at EICMA 2024. We got the chance to be up close and personal with both the bikes, and you can check out the same below:
But our main focus here is the KTM 390 Enduro R. It's going to be the most hardcore locally built offering from the Austrian brand for the Indian market yet. While the bike will be powered by the same 399 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is available with the third-gen 390 Duke – The Enduro R is expected to have its own dedicated tune to accredit its off-road pedigree. Coupled with a more focused setup for off-roading which includes — proper knobby tyres, long travel adjustable WP Apex USD fork and monoshock, a flat enduro-style seat from the tank to tail, and minimal body panels – it leaves little to imagine the kind of action the Enduro R will be equipped for.
But the most daring aspect of all will be its seat height. While we are yet to get a confirmed number, we estimate that the Enduro R’s seat might stand almost 900 mm tall – which should be quite intimidating to some, especially newbie riders.
On the features end, the KTM 390 Enduro R will not come loaded to the gill as the 390 Adventure R. So, instead of the 5-inch TFT cluster, there’s a 4-inch TFT unit. The latter should be available with Bluetooth connectivity option and thereby some of the connectivity features that come with it. But features like the cruise control might be given a miss here, for long distance touring will not be the Enduro R’s forte.
KTM India is expected to reveal the price of the 390 Enduro R later in mid-2025. But before that, the brand is slated to launch the 390 Adventure X, and the 390 Adventure R. The former will be the affordable option, while the latter will command a hefty price tag, The new 390 Enduro R is expected to slot in between this two.
