Jaguar Four-Door Electric GT will be based on the Type 00 concept that made its debut in December 2024.
Jaguar is moving rapidly towards an all-electric future. The Tata-owned British marque has confirmed the first step in this transition will be the unveiling of its four-door electric GT slated to happen in September this year. The luxury carmaker has also confirmed that the four-door electric grand tourer will be inspired by some of its most celebrated cars in the past.
The GT will serve as the first expression of the brand’s updated direction, following the introduction of the Type 00 concept in December 2024. Jaguar further revealed that the development process was designed to ensure that the new GT would still feel like a Jaguar, even as the brand enters a new electric era.
Jaguar describes the GT as its most technically advanced model yet, with its exuberant modernist design, pioneering technology and instinctive dynamics expected to influence its future products.

Jaguar notes that the dual nature of the upcoming Electric GT has long been central to its identity and is now being carried into its next generation of electric models. To understand what should remain unchanged in a modern Jaguar, engineers drove the XK120, E-type, XJ Coupé V12, XJS and XJ Series I.
Each of these cars have helped shape the development direction for the new GT. Jaguar says the XK120 demonstrated the need for a cosseting cabin and class-leading performance, while the E-type reinforced the idea that a Jaguar should feel fast but still accessible and elegant. The XJ Coupe V12 appears to have had the strongest influence on the car’s overall driving character, thanks to its blend of performance and comfort.

The XJ S also helped define the brief, particularly around long-distance capability and confidence through corners. The XJ Series I, meanwhile, contributed to the idea of power in reserve paired with a refined driving experience.

Jaguar says the new GT has been tested in both real-world and virtual environments across extreme conditions worldwide. That development programme has been used to refine the vehicle’s driving character and to build in-house propulsion technologies for a car that, according to the company, will drive unlike other electric vehicles.
Technical details released so far point to serious performance credentials. The GT will feature intelligent torque vectoring and tri-motor technology, producing more than 1,000 horses and over 1,300 Nm of peak torque. Jaguar also says the embedded software can respond in as little as one millisecond, while dynamic air suspension and twin-valve active dampers are intended to preserve ride comfort without sacrificing composure.
