Jio has also partnered with Karbonn for making Bharat Phone.
Reliance Jio has officially launched the Jio Bharat Phone 4G priced at INR 999 in India. Jio is taking strides towards addressing the digital disparity faced by millions of feature phone users with the introduction of the Jio Bharat Phone. Jio has also partnered with Karbonn for making Bharat Phone. It is estimated that India's 250 million mobile subscribers are still confined to the 2G era without access to the internet. The Jio Bharat Phone aims to bridge the digital divide especially those unable to afford smartphones.
The beta trial for the first 1 million Jio Bharat phones is set to commence on July 7th, 2023.
The trial aims to ensure the scalability of the platform and processes required for upgrading millions of feature phone users.
The beta trial will be conducted across 6,500 tehsils, ensuring widespread participation and testing.
The Jio Bharat phone is priced at an affordable ₹999, offering the lowest entry price for an internet-enabled phone.
Compared to feature phone offerings by other operators, Jio Bharat phone users can enjoy a 30% cheaper monthly plan and receive 7 times more data.
For a monthly fee of ₹123, users can avail unlimited voice calls and 14 GB of data.
"6 years ago, when Jio was launched, we made it clear that Jio will leave no stone unturned to democratize internet and pass the benefits of technology to every Indian. Technology will no longer remain a privilege for a select few. The new Jio Bharat phone is another step in that direction. It is at the centre of innovation, and it continues to demonstrate our focus on bringing disproportionate and true value for different segments of users with meaningful, real-life use cases," said Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio.
