Kia India is all set to launch the new Carnival in India on October 3, 2024. The Carnival is not a new nameplate in India as the third-gen model was sold in India between 2020 and 2023. Kia India will bring in the facelift of the fourth-gen Carnival. Here’s what you need to know about the new Carnival.
The new Carnival sports a massive grille flanked by vertically oriented headlamps and inverted L-shaped LED DRLs. The front bumper also houses twin LED foglamps on either side as well as the ADAS module. It has 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and sliding rear doors for better access to the second and third rows. Aft of the rear doors, the Carnival gets a thick chrome accent that is connected on either side by a trim piece that wraps around the rear of the MPV. The connected taillamp cluster is also very similar to other Kia models available in India. The Carnival is only available in two colour options – Fusion Black and Glacier White Pearl.
Inside, the new Carnival gets two 12.3-inch screens with one for the infotainment and one for the virtual cluster and both are housed in a single binnacle. There’s a strip of ambient lighting running across the dashboard underneath the AC vents. At the bottom of the dash is a touch panel for the HVAC control with two knobs on either side to control the media playback. The Carnival gets a rotary drive selector in the centre console.
As for features, the Carnival gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, a powered tailgate, powered rear doors, power-adjustable front and rear seats with heating and ventilation, head-up display, Bose-tuned audio system, a wireless charger, 64 colour ambient lighting, auto wipers, three-zone climate control, dual sunroof and more. Safety features include 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system, all-wheel disc brakes and three-point seatbelts with reminders for all seats, along with 23 features for the level 2 ADAS.
The Carnival is available only as a seven-seater with two Captain’s seats in the second row and a bench for three in the third row. The second-row seats also get an ottoman and aeroplane-like headrests to increase comfort for the passengers.
Under the hood of the Carnival is a 2.2-litre diesel engine that churns out 190 bhp and 441 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Carnival measures 5155 mm in length with a wheelbase of 3090 mm, 1995 mm in width and 1775 mm in height.
Expect the new Carnival to be priced north of ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). With respect to prices, the Carnival has no direct rival but it will see some competition from the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto.
