Kia India has opened the bookings for the Sonet facelift at an initial token amount of र25,000.
Hot on the heels of the global debut of the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift, Kia India has opened the pre-bookings of the subcompact SUV at an initial token amount of र25,000, with deliveries to commence from January 2024, except for the diesel manual variants, which is scheduled for February 2024. Showcased this month, the Kia Sonet facelift brings in fresh updates to its exterior and interior along with the reintroduction of a manual gearbox for its diesel version.

With the update, Kia India has also introduced level-1 ADAS functions with the Sonet facelift, much akin to the Hyundai Venue which received it a few months ago. Along with 10 ADAS features, the Kia Sonet Facelift also receives 25 safety features, and more than 70 connected car tech features. Other changes are limited to the exterior and interior with the styling now inspired from the larger Kia SUVs. The front and rear section of the Sonet facelift has design cues from the larger Kia Seltos as well as the Kia EV9.
On the inside, the Kia Sonet facelift receives a new theme with a fresh set of equipment added to the list. These include a new 10.25-inch driver’s display sourced from the Kia Seltos. While it still gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the Sonet now also has a 360-degree camera.

At the heart sits the same powertrain options as before. It gets a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 118 bhp and 172 Nm and a 1.2-litre petrol engine with 82 bhp and 115 Nm. Both these powertrains are coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo-petrol gets a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel engine gets the same 6-speed iMT introduced earlier this year and the 6-speed automatic gearbox. However, it also sees the reintroduction of a 6-speed manual gearbox with the diesel engine.
The Sonet is Kia's second best-selling vehicle, with more than 3.6 lakh vehicles sold globally. In India, Kia has sold 2.84 lakh vehicles, contributing 33 per cent to Kia India's overall domestic sales. In the subcompact SUV segment, the Kia Sonet holds close to 13 per cent segment share, dominated by the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon and even the Hyundai Venue.
