LA Auto Show 2024: 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan Revealed

Volkswagen has introduced the all-new 2025 Tiguan, marking a significant redesign of the automaker's top-selling model in the U.S. The third-generation Tiguan promises bold styling, improved power, enhanced efficiency, and an array of advanced features to elevate both driving experience and passenger comfort. However, Volkswagen has not yet disclosed pricing for the 2025 Tiguan but confirmed that details will be announced closer to its launch.

The 2025 Tiguan has been completely reimagined on Volkswagen's MQB Evo platform. The redesign introduces a shorter rear overhang and a slightly longer wheelbase, improving both stability and interior space. The vehicle's exterior has transformed dramatically, featuring a more prominent nose, slimmer headlights, and an optional LED light bar with an illuminated VW logo that creates a distinct light signature. Aerodynamics have been optimised with elements like a rear spoiler and air curtains integrated into the front bumper.

Wheel options range from standard 17-inch aluminium alloys to 19-inch and 20-inch variants on higher trims. Volkswagen has also expanded the colour palette with three striking new shades: Avocado Green Pearl, Sandstone Uni, and Monterey Blue Pearl.

Inside, the Tiguan boasts significant enhancements in design and materials, offering a more luxurious cabin feel. Premium options include genuine American walnut wood trim, upgraded Savona leather, and double-stitched centre consoles. Cloth seats feature embossed patterns for a modern touch, while the relocation of the gear selector to the steering column frees up space in the centre console for increased storage. Volkswagen has opted for a two-row configuration for the North American market, focusing on spaciousness and comfort for passengers.

The Tiguan features Volkswagen's latest infotainment technology. A standard 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro system is paired with the new MIB4 central infotainment system, featuring a 12.9-inch touchscreen display. An innovative rotary dial in the centre console provides intuitive control of volume, drive modes, and the new 'Atmospheres' feature. This system allows users to synchronise ambient lighting and audio settings for a tailored driving ambience, with five pre-set options and a custom mode.

Other tech highlights include wireless charging, standard App-Connect, and optional upgrades like a 15-inch infotainment screen, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, and a head-up display. Comfort features, such as three-zone climate control, heated rear seats, and ventilated front seats with massage functionality, further enhance the in-cabin experience.

Under the hood, the Tiguan is equipped with an upgraded 2.0-litre turbocharged EA888 four-cylinder engine, now producing 198 bhp-an increase from the previous 181 bhp. The vehicle is approximately 77 kg lighter than its predecessor, thanks to the use of aluminium in the suspension and high-strength steel in the body. This weight reduction improves both fuel efficiency and acceleration, although official EPA fuel economy ratings have not yet been announced.

Volkswagen has made significant strides in safety with the 2025 Tiguan. The model now features ten airbags, including new driver knee, centre, and rear side airbags. Standard across all trims is VW's IQ, Level 2 driver assistance suite, which includes semi-automated driving assistance, front assist, active blind spot monitor, rear traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane-keeping assist.
