Mahindra Announces Change In Leadership Positions

Some of the leaders have been associated with Mahindra since 1995.

Mahindra and Mahindra has made a few key changes to its leadership roles. The nature of appointment is to primarily drive the business of these respective portfolios, namely Automotive Business, Mahindra Logistics, and the Farm Equipment Business, further. 

Amongst new appointees, Mahindra & Mahindra also announced that its SUV and LCV (vehicles that weigh less than 3.5 tonnes) business will come under one umbrella called, Automotive Business (AB). This new merged department will be led by R Velusamy. He was till now the President of Automotive Technology and Product Development of Mahindra & Mahindra. Velusamy has been a key figure behind some of the most popular SUVs from the marque. From the XUV 700 to the latest Mahindra XUV BE 6, and even the Thar Roxx, Velusamy has even developed the powertrains of some of these badges. Under his new updated profile, Velusamy will now also be looking after the production and sales of the brand’s lightweight commercial vehicles.

The next two senior leadership changes come in the logistical and farming department. The brand has announced Hemant Sikka as the new MD & CEO of Mahindra Logistics (MLL) by MLL Board. He will be replacing Ram Swaminathan, who has decided to step down due to other professional interests. On the other hand, Veejay Nakra will head the Farm Equipment Business as its new President. 

Veejay had joined M&M back in 1995, while R Velusamy had joined the company a year later in 1996. Hemant joined M&M in 2000 after a 9 year stint with Maruti Suzuki. All three have a proven track record with Mahindra & Mahindra, and have been tasked to further their respective verticals.

Speaking on the occasion of this leadership reshuffle, Anish Shah, Group CEO & Managing Director, M&M, said, “These leadership changes ensure that we have strong, proven leaders at the helm of our key businesses.
