The issue may lead to noticeable vibrations while driving in engine mode.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has initiated a recall for specific Grand Vitara vehicles due to a left-hand side engine mounting fitment issue that may lead to noticeable vibrations while driving in engine mode. Despite emphasising that this issue does not compromise vehicle performance, Maruti Suzuki is replacing the left-hand side engine mounting in the affected vehicles voluntarily. Acko Drive reached out to Maruti Suzuki India for a statement but the company has not responded yet. However, several dealers in Delhi, Gurgaon, Chennai, and Bengaluru have confirmed the recall.

Maruti Suzuki, however, is yet to reply to our mail and this is also the reason why we do not know the number of vehicles or the batch which has been affected. However, Maruti Suzuki dealers have already begun reaching out to Grand Vitara owners via letters asking them to come to the workshop and get the part replaced free of cost.

Toyota

Given that the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is based on the same platform as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, we expect some units of the former to be affected as well. We have reached out to Toyota India for a response on this and have not received a response yet.

This is not the first time that the Grand Vitara has been recalled. Previously, in January 2023, about 11,177 units of the GV, manufactured between 8 August and 15 November 2022 were recalled for a possible defect in rear seat-belt mounting brackets, which in a rare case, may loosen in the long run and impact its functionality. In December 2022, the company recalled six models, including the Grand Vitara for a possible faulty child part of the shoulder height adjuster assembly of front-row seat belts. This recall impacted 17,362 units in total.

Toyota

For Toyota, the HyRyder was also recalled in December 2022 and January 2023 due to a defect in the airbag controller unit, and front seat-belt-shoulder height adjuster plate assembly respectively.
