The Invicto MPV will be a 7 seater and will be available only with a petrol engine
Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its MPV in India and the official word is out on its name. It will be called Invicto and the company has already said that it will launch the car in July. The Invicto will be based on the Toyota Innova Hycross. Now, certainly, this would be a name that maybe Mahindra would choose, given its fascination for the 'O' in the end (Verito, Bolero, Scorpio, e2O, do I need to go on?). Now Maruti Suzuki too has cars ending with the letter of the alphabet 'O', there's the Spresso, Baleno, Estilo, so the name Invicto then is not far off for the company as many of you would think.
Maruti's MPV will also share the engine, platform and components of the Hycross and it is likely to come with the 2.0-litre petrol hybrid which makes 183 bhp and develops 206 Nm and is mated to an e-CVT. So yes, a full hybrid is definitely on the cards and it is expected that the lower variants will not get a hybrid option.
On the price expectation front, Maruti Suzuki's MPV is likely to cost similarly when compared to the Innova Hycross. So, Rs. 18 lakh is where it could begin and end at Rs. 24 lakh for the top-end hybrid version.
