The C 63 S E Performance is Mercedes-Benz’s 14th and final launch in India for 2024.
Mercedes-Benz India’s 14th launch for the year is the AMG C 63 S E Performance, which is slated to launch tomorrow, November 12, 2024. The C 63 S E Performance is the second AMG variant in the C-Class line-up, with the other being the C 43 4Matic.
The C 63 S E Performance is the most hardcore version of the C-Class and is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine assisted by an electric motor. The former churns out 483 bhp and the latter develops 197 bhp, and combined, the powertrain produces 662 bhp and 1020 Nm. The turbocharger in the engine uses a 400V electric motor, a technology derived from Mercedes’ Formula 1 endeavours. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
In addition to the excessive performance on the road, the C 63 S E Performance has been tuned for optimal performance on the track. The Track Mode provides real time feedback, helping and acting as a co-pilot to the drivers.
On the outside, the C 63 S E Performance looks like a more hardcore version of the C 43 4Matic and arguably so. It also has an AMG-specific grille with vertical slats and active shutters to aid with cooling. It also gets AMG-specific bumpers and alloy wheels.
Inside, the C 63 S E Performance has the same interior as the AMG C 43 4Matic, with a vertically oriented infotainment touchscreen, a virtual instrument cluster, and an AMG-specific steering wheel. Like all AMG models, there’s no dearth of carbon fibre on the inside.
In terms of price, the C 63 S E Performance is expected to retail for around ₹1.4 - 1.5 crore (ex-showroom, India). For perspective, the “tamer” C 43 4Matic is priced at ₹98.25 lakh (ex-showroom, India). While BMW doesn’t sell the M3 in India, it does sell the M4 Competition (₹1.53 crore) which is a two-door rival to the C 63 S E Performance. The other rival for the C 63 S E Performance includes the Audi RS 5 (₹1.13 crore).
