Mercedes-Benz India has announced its retail numbers for FY2026 (April 2025 - March 2026), and the company continues to hold on to the top spot in luxury car sales. The German automaker sold 19,363 units, up from 18,928 units in FY 2024-25), a marginal growth of 2.3 per cent. The carmaker pipped BMW India for the top spot with the latter retailing 17,301 units during the last financial year, according to the retail sales data shared by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

Mercedes-Benz said that its top-end vehicle sales grew 16 per cent year in FY2026, which now contribute up to 27 per cent in total sales for the carmaker. The company identifies vehicles priced above ₹1.4 crore in the top-end vehicles category, comprising models such as AMG, Maybach, S-Class, GLS, G-Wagen, and more. On the other hand, the manufacturer’s entry-level luxury models recorded an 18 per cent decline in volumes year-on-year. The company attributed this to its “value over volume” strategy. Notably, Mercedes’ market share dropped 0.39 per cent from 0.43 per cent in the last fiscal.

Electric Vehicles accounted for 20 per cent of Mercedes’ total top-end retail sales in FY2026. Top-end BEVs (priced above ₹1.4 crore) recorded an 85 per cent growth in the last fiscal. The company said it received strong demand for models such as the EQS SUV, EQS Maybach SUV, and the electric G-Class. The automaker has consolidated its entry EV segment with the discontinuation of models including the EQB and EQA, with the upcoming CLA BEV set to be its newest entry-level EV on sale, starting on April 24, 2026.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB continues to be the bestseller for the manufacturer, not just in Q1 CY2026, but also in FY2026. The E-Class LWB also remains the highest-selling luxury car in India. Other models that remain top sellers include the C-Class, as well as the GLC and GLE SUVs.

With respect to Q1 CY2026 (January to March), Mercedes-Benz sold 5,131 units, registering a 7 per cent increase in volumes year-on-year.
