This is the first time the Countryman gets an electric powertrain.
MINI India has launched the Countryman SE All4 electric SUV in India at ₹54.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new Countryman SE is the first-ever all-electric version of MINI's luxury SUV. MINI India has also launched the fourth-generation Cooper S hatchback, while BMW India has launched the eight-generation BMW 5 Series LWB.
The MINI Countryman SE shares its platform with the BMW iX1 but gets its design language. The new Countryman has a boxy design language, reminiscent of the previous generations of the SUV. Up front, it has square-ish headlamps and LED DRLs as well as an octagonal grille, with gold accents all around.
In profile, the iconic silhouette of the Countryman is retained and the blacked-out pillars give it a floating roof design. At the back, it has a redesigned tailgate and vertical taillamps with a new lighting signature.
Inside, the new Countryman gets a minimalistic design and the circular 9.4-inch OLED infotainment touchscreen is the only screen in the cabin. However, it also gets a head-up display, a fish-eye in-car camera, Mini Experience drive modes, connected car tech, digital key, power-adjustable front seats and more. Safety features include ESC, hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD and ADAS with 12 cameras.
Powering the new Countryman SE is a dual-motor all-wheel drive variant that produces 309 bhp and 494 Nm. It packs a 66.45 kWh battery pack that gives it a claimed range of 433 km on a full charge. Mini claims that with an 11 kW AC charger, the battery can be fully charged in 6 hours and 30 minutes. With a 130 kW DC fast charger, it can be charged from 10-80 per cent in around half an hour.
The new Countryman SE rivals the likes of the BMW iX1, Mercedes-Benz EQA, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. MINI will bring the Countryman SE to India as a completely built unit (CBU).
