Nissan India has revealed its future product strategy for India with as many as five SUVs slated for a launch by 2025. These include a new generation Magnite, an all-new compact SUV based on the new Renault Duster, a new three-row, 7-seater SUV to rival the Tata Safari and the Hyundai Alcazar, as well as a three-row MPV based on the Renault Triber. Additionally, the company will also introduce an all-new entry-level EV to rival the Citroen eC3 and the upcoming Tata Punch EV. The 5th product that could enter our shores is the Nissan X-Trail.
Nissan recently refreshed its sole product, the Magnite with a new gearbox however, the company is now working on a new generation of the subcompact SUV which could be introduced to our market by mid-2024. Further details regarding the specification are still scarce but do expect a new powertrain to be added to its range with a slew of new features.
Apart from the Magnite, the company is also readying its version of the new Renault Duster, based on the CMF-B platform, and is said to be built at the same plant in Chennai as its sibling. There’s also news about the company exporting this Duster sibling to its overseas market. However, don’t expect Nissan to bring this new model to the market before 2025.
Following the launch of the new Duster from Nissan, the company will introduce a three-row, 7-seater version based on the same new platform. It will take cues from the yet-to-be-revealed Bigster SUV, however, reports suggest that the price for this new car will be very aggressive. Expect it to arrive in the market by 2025.
Like the Renault Triber, Nissan too will bring in its version at a very competitive price point and will most likely be positioned below the Nissan Magnite. Expect it to employ a similar engine set-up with a smartly carved-out interior. Nissan will aim to market this new MPV against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, and even the Kia Carens.
Apart from its ICE portfolio, Nissan will also introduce a new entry-level EV, to rival the Citroen eC3 and even the upcoming Tata Punch EV however, this too will not arrive before 2025. Reports also suggest that the company will bring in a new CMF-AEV hatchback platform that will also underpin an EV for Renault India.
