Oppo seems to be going after style-conscious buyers with its upcoming K12x 5G smartphone.
Shortly after the launch of its high-end Reno 12 series, Oppo has confirmed on its social media that the mid-range K12x will be the next model to go on sale in India. The Oppo K12x will be announced on July 29, and the teaser also indicates that it will be sold primarily on Flipkart.
Oppo has already shown off photos of the upcoming phone, and has released some details about its design. The K12x will be 7.68mm thick and will weigh 186g. It will be available in Breeze Blue and Midnight Violet. The Breeze Blue finish looks like a gradient between light blue and silver, with a green swirl in between. Oppo calls it an “innovative magnetic particle design” and says it evokes a gentle summer breeze. The more sedate Midnight Violet option is described as sophisticated and understated, with a shimmering texture. Oppo’s post also touts “next-level design and durability” though there are no further details about the latter claim.
A few other details are visible in the teasers. The Oppo K12x has two cameras plus a ring-shaped flash on the back, and the camera module does not seem to protrude very much from the phone’s rear panel. The sides of the phone appear flat, with power and volume buttons on the right and a SIM tray on the left. There also appears to be a 3.5mm audio socket on the bottom, along with a USB Type-C port and speaker grille.
Oppo claims this phone packs a high-capacity battery, though no hardware specifications have yet been confirmed. Leaks suggest that the Oppo K12x will have a 5100mAh battery, and will support 45W fast charging. It is also said to feature a 6.67-inch 120Hz display.
On Flipkart, Oppo is also emphasising its brand strengths including the number of service centres it operates across India, its factory in Noida, and its investments in developing a local supply chain here. Oppo customers get a 30-day replacement guarantee, 90-day repair warranty, free pickup and drop for repairs, and customer support in local languages.
