The centre of excellence is proposed to be opened in two locations – Gujarat and Haryana.
Maruti Suzuki India and Suzuki Motor Corporation will establish the Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence (OSCOE) in India. The OSCOE is proposed to be opened in two locations – Gujarat and Haryana.
The OSCOE will help build infrastructure and develop programmes in collaboration with the academia and inculcate Japanese manufacturing philosophies. The programme will include formal teaching, lectures, discussions, seminars and more.
Furthermore, OSCOE will not only be limited to the automotive industry, but also include all the manufacturing industry as a whole. It will also improve the standard of component manufacturers to make the supply chain more competitive globally.
The OSCOE will imbibe the practices and concepts Osamu Suzuki brought to India. His practices included creating more equitable, inclusive and cohesive society, and he also brought Japanese manufacturing concepts to India, which are renowned for being highly efficient.
Osamu Suzuki was a pioneer in the global automotive industry and sadly passed away on December 25, 2024 in Japan. He played a pivotal role in bringing Suzuki Motor Corp to India, aiding the birth of Maruti Suzuki in the early 1980s. For his contribution to the Indian automotive industry, Osamu Suzuki was posthumously honoured with Padma Vibhushan and awarded Padma Bhushan in 2007.
