Poco has confirmed that its upcoming Poco F6 will be the first smartphone in India powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. The Poco F6 5G is scheduled to launch on May 23 in India and will be available through Flipkart.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is Qualcomm's latest premium mobile processor, slotting in just below the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The octa-core chipset is built on a 4nm process and features a prime core clocked at up to 3.0GHz, four performance cores at 2.8GHz, and three efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz. It packs an Adreno GPU that supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for gaming.
A key highlight is support for over 30 on-device generative AI models with up to 10 billion parameters, including popular language models like Llama 2, Gemini Nano, and Baichuan-7B. This allows powerful AI capabilities like text/image generation and voice assistants.
While slightly reducing performance slightly reducing performance from the Gen 3, the 8s Gen 3 retains flagship camera features like a triple 18-bit ISP for 200MP photo capture. It also has the latest Snapdragon X70 5G modem and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
The Poco F6 5G is expected to be a rebranded version of the Redmi Turbo 3, which launched in China recently. If so, it will feature a 6.67-inch 1220p 120Hz OLED display, a 50MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 5,000mAh battery with 90W charging.
The rumoured storage options include up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. Poco will reveal full details at the F6's launch event on May 23 at 4:30 pm IST.
