The 86-year-old business icon took to social media to address rumours following reports of a sudden drop in his blood pressure that led to his hospitalisation.
Industrialist and Tata Group Chairman Emeritus, Ratan Tata, has downplayed concerns over his health after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai earlier today. The 86-year-old business icon took to social media to address rumours following reports of a sudden drop in his blood pressure that led to his hospitalisation.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Tata reassured the public and his well-wishers that his medical situation was under control. "There is no cause for concern," he stated, explaining that his current hospitalisation is part of routine medical check-ups given his age and related conditions. "I remain in good spirits," he added, while asking the public and the media to refrain from spreading unfounded claims about his health.
A similar message was posted on X (formerly Twitter), with Tata thanking everyone for their concern and reiterating that the situation was not as alarming as had been reported. "Thank you for thinking of me," read the post.
The statement from Ratan Tata comes in response to a wave of speculation surrounding his condition. The news of his ICU admission triggered widespread concern, given his status as one of India's most prominent and respected industrialists.
Tata, who retired as Chairman of Tata Sons in 2012, continues to be an influential figure in Indian business and philanthropy. Despite his advanced age, he remains active in various charitable endeavours through the Tata Trusts.
As of now, hospital sources have not provided further details on his condition, but Tata's message on social media seeks to allay fears, stressing that there is no immediate cause for alarm.
