Renault is offering a total of three engine options with the new-gen Duster including a 1.0-litre turbo petrol, a 1.3-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.8-litre petrol strong hybrid.
The Renault Duster made its grand comeback earlier this year with prices announced just last weekend. The new Duster is a stark departure from the older model which was on sale in the country from 2012 to 2022. Right from new looks to new features but more importantly a new platform makes the 2026 Duster a whole new offering from Renault.
Besides, the new third generation Renault Duster has a new set of powertrain options to offer: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol, a 1.3-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.8-litre petrol strong hybrid. Renault has released the official ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures for the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, which it expects to account for the majority of sales of the new Renault Duster.

Available with either 6-speed manual or 6-speed DCT automatic transmission options, Renault claims that the Duster with the 1.3-litre engine offers a fuel efficiency of 17.75 kmpl and 18.45 kmpl, respectively. The 1.3-litre TCe unit churns out 161 bhp and 280 Nm of peak torque, which is the best in its class.
Speaking on this development, Dr V Vikraman, Chief of Renault Engineering, Renault Group India said, “The ARAI-certified figures highlight the strength of our technology and our commitment to delivering superior all-round value. New Renault Duster’s Turbo 160 engine integrates advanced solutions such as low-friction coatings and high-pressure fuel injection to optimise combustion and efficiency.”

Renault will also offer a smaller 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine for the entry-level variants of the new Duster. This motor will be solely offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox and pushes out 99 bhp and 160 Nm of peak torque. The other option is a 1.8-litre strong-hybrid petrol engine that will join the Duster lineup around Diwali this year.
This will be the largest displacement engine in its segment which will also pack a 1.4 kWh (280-volt) battery. This unit will power an electric motor churning out 48 bhp, along with a 19 bhp hybrid start generator. The hybrid powertrain will produce a combined output of 158 bhp. Renault recently confirmed that Duster with the hybrid powertrain is sold out for a year and the company has stopped accepting bookings for the same, as of now.
