The R2 and R3 will go on sale in the USA from 2026 onwards, followed by the international markets.
Rivian has unveiled two new models – R2 and R3 – that are based on its new midsize vehicle platform. The R2 will go on sale in the USA in the first half of 2026, and the R3 will go on sale after that. While Rivian says they both will be available in the international market, it hasn’t specified any markets as of now apart from Europe.
The R2 is expected to be priced around $45,000 (roughly ₹37.20 lakh) and Rivian claims the R3 will be even more affordable. For reference, prices for Rivian's current models, the R1T and R1S, start at $72,000 (roughly ₹59.53 lakh) and $77,000 (roughly ₹63.66 lakh), respectively. Rivian says interested customers can book their R2 SUVs for just $100 (around ₹8,300).

The midsize R2’s first and second-row seats can be folded completely flat to allow for more cargo space and even camping. Moreover, the rear glass also rolls down completely into the tailgate to allow for longer cargo to be loaded and what Rivian claims to be “a unique open-air driving experience”. The rear quarter windows also pop out to help with the experience.
The R3 is a midsize crossover that Rivian says is small in dimensions but is claimed to deliver good performance, off-road capabilities, comfort and storage. The R3 also gets a performance-oriented version called the R3X which Rivian claims will have better dynamic abilities on and off the road.
Rivian says the R2 will have a range of over 550 km on a single charge, but the marque is yet to reveal the range of the R3. Both will get multiple battery pack options as well. Rivian claims the R2 and R3 will get NACS (native) and CCS (with adapter), and the batteries can be charged from 10 - 80 per cent in under 30 minutes.
The R2 and R3 come with single-motor (RWD), dual-motor (AWD) and tri-motor (AWD) layout. The latter will have two motors at the back and one in the front. Furthermore, they will also have a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of under three seconds with the quickest powertrain configurations.
Rivian also says the R2 and R3 will also have self-driving capabilities and will use 11 cameras, five radars and a powerful computing platform. Inside, the Rivian R2 and R3 have a very minimalistic interior which is draped in wood and materials made from ocean plastics. They also get features like two large touchscreens, two glove boxes, a large panoramic sunroof, a floating central armrest for the front passengers and more.
The R2 measures 4,715 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width and 1,700 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,395 mm and ground clearance of 250 mm. For reference, the R1S SUV measures 5,100 mm, 2,014 mm and 3,076 mm in length, width and height, respectively and has a wheelbase of 3,076 mm and ground clearance of 380 mm. However, Rivian has yet to reveal the dimensions of the R3 and R3X.
