Unlike the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, the Classic 650 will look slightly different with distinct regal appeal.
As Royal Enfield gears up for the launch of its second 450 cc offering, the Guerrilla 450, in Barcelona on July 17 – the Chennai-based manufacturer is also simultaneously testing a bunch of new motorcycles on the sidelines. The latest that caught our fancy (yet again) is the new Classic 650.
Yes, Royal Enfield already has a bobber on sale in the form of the Shotgun 650 (SG650), but unlike the SG650, this new 650 cc retro bike will look more regal in appeal. Due to visual elements like the headlamp cowl, the teardrop-shaped tank, and the curved fenders look similar to the ones we’ve seen in the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
Just like the brand’s existing portfolio of 650 cc motorcycles, the upcoming Classic 650 will also carry forward the same parallel-twin engine, which debuted with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The latter’s tune of 47 bhp and 52 Nm is expected to be carried over here as well, as has been the case with the Super Meteor 650, Shotgun 650, and Continental GT 650.
We expect Royal Enfield to showcase the Classic 650 at EICMA this year, with an India launch at Moto Verse 2024. It might carry a small premium over the Interceptor 650 but it will still be more affordable than the other 650 twin-cylinder bikes.
