The new Royal Enfield Scram 440 addresses several issues which kind of hampered the overall experience on the Scram 411.
The revamped Royal Enfield Scram 440 was launched yesterday with quite an enticing asking price. While the bike might look similar to the Scram 411 as before, there are some pretty significant upgrades which should help transform the familiar adventure bike into a more capable touring machine. Despite the same styling, the new Scram 440 brings substantial improvements across multiple aspects and here are the key standouts:
Enhanced Powertrain
The motorcycle receives a notable engine upgrade, expanding from 411 cc to 443 cc. This displacement increase yields a modest power boost of 1.1 bhp, bringing the total output to 25.4 bhp. Torque has also been incrementally improved, now standing at 34 Nm. A crucial addition is the new 6-speed transmission, addressing previous limitations and promising improved long-distance comfort.
Advanced Braking System
Addressing a critical feature gap, the new Scram 440 now offers switchable ABS, which should make your ordinary urban scrambling a bit more fun. Royal Enfield has also enhanced the braking performance by incorporating larger piston calipers.
Consistent Design Philosophy
Royal Enfield has maintained the motorcycle's original silhouette, retaining the proven Himalayan-derived frame and suspension geometry. The 41mm telescopic front fork and monoshock suspension continue to provide 190mm and 180mm travel respectively, preserving the bike's versatile nature.
Modern Feature Set
While retaining its familiar semi-digital instrument cluster, the Scram 440 introduces several contemporary elements. New LED lighting - including headlights and tail light - and an onboard USB charging port enhance its practical appeal. The optional Tripper Pod navigation system adds further technological sophistication.
Better Wheels and Tyres
A significant update comes in the form of alloy wheels, now accompanied by tubeless tyres. This modification solves the problem of constantly worrying about punctures during long distance rides.
Variant Diversity
The new Scram 440 is available in two distinct variants: Force and Trail. The Force variant showcases alloy wheels and comes in Blue, Grey, and Teal color options. Thereby, it costs the most at ₹2.15 lakh. The Trail variant maintains spoke wheels and is offered in Green and Blue colour options, so it costs the least at ₹2.08 lakh (both ex-showroom prices, Delhi).
