Nissan Motor India has announced a change in leadership. Current Managing Director (MD) Rakesh Srivastava will be replaced by Deputy Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa. The former will retire from Nissan on March 31 and Vatsa will take the helm from April 1.
Vatsa was appointed as Nissan’s Deputy MD on January 15, 2024. Upon his promotion, he will report to Frank Torres, President, Nissan India Operations. Under Srivastava’s leadership, Nissan launched the Magnite in India in 2020, which has now achieved the 100,000 unit sales milestone in February 2024.
Thanking Srivastava for his contribution to Nissan, Torres said, “Rakesh has been a key member of our India leadership team. We thank Rakesh for his exceptional leadership, tenacity, and wisdom in leading the company through turbulent times including the COVID-19 pandemic while contributing to the turnaround of India business operations.”
On his new role in the brand, Vatsa commented, “We are constantly pushing the boundaries on ‘what’s next’ and our daring spirit of innovation is what sets us apart. We intend to deliver on the ongoing business transformation plan in preparation of the MTP which includes a new product portfolio and enhanced customer centricity.”
Nissan has plans to invest ₹5,300 crore in India as a part of its alliance with Renault. With this investment, Renault and Nissan plan to launch new products in India. While Nissan plans to launch five new SUVs in India by 2025, Renault will launch five new models in India by 2027.
