Skoda Auto India has announced a targeted recall of 14 vehicles from its Kushaq and Slavia model lines, citing concerns about a potential manufacturing defect within the track control arm component. The recall covers vehicles produced from November 29, 2023, to January 20, 2024. The automaker has identified that some units may have a weld irregularity on the track control arm, a key component in the vehicle’s suspension system.
The track control arm connects the vehicle’s chassis to the wheels, which is crucial in maintaining stability, especially during steering manoeuvres. According to Skoda, a production irregularity at the supplier’s end may have caused certain units to miss proper welding along the seam of this component. If left unaddressed, this welding issue could compromise the structural integrity of the track control arm, potentially leading to a sudden loss of vehicle control in certain driving scenarios.
The recall applies strictly to the 14 vehicles within the Kushaq and Slavia lines produced during the specified period. Skoda Auto India has reached out to the owners of these vehicles and is offering complimentary inspections and any necessary repairs. Skoda service centres nationwide have been briefed on the issue and will conduct the necessary checks to ensure the component’s integrity.
