Both bikes were spotted in Europe being tested in near-production guise.
That Triumph will introduce two new 400 cc bikes soon has been known for quite some time now. We had already spotted the Speed 400 RR/ Thruxton 400 in India before, and now it was spotted again in near production guise, but this time in Europe. It was spotted alongside the Triumph Scrambler 400X which seemed more rugged in appeal, and in no way resembled the Scrambler T4 that we had spotted here before.
In the latest spy shot images, the Triumph Scrambler 400X sported a higher mudguard, wind deflector, and had enhanced engine protection. The suspension setup also looked like now it had higher travel – all of which indicates that this might be called the Scrambler 400 XE. XE in Triumph’s dictionary stands for more suspension travel. Just like how Triumph has the Scrambler 1200 XE, the upcoming Scrambler 400 XE will be more off-road oriented based on the standard Scrambler 400X.
On the other hand, the Triumph Speed 400 RR/ Thruxton 400 has pretty much remained the same as how we spotted it here in India. Whether it’s that half-fairing design or those alloy wheels, or even the full-LED unit, the bike hasn’t undergone any radical changes as such.
Both bikes will be powered by the same 398 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. Similarly, the frame and hardware components will be more or less the same as the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. Minor tweaks, like the Scrambler 400 XE riding on wire-spoke 19-/17-inch wheels, which will make it slightly heavier, are the other key highlights here.
While Triumph has yet to confirm a launch date for both these bikes, given the months of R&D both have already undergone, we expect both to hit markets by mid-2025. Meanwhile, Triumph India recently introduced four brand new colour options to its most affordable bike, the Speed T4. You can learn all about it by heading to the link here.
