One EV, one MPV and two hatchbacks are in store this month.
May is going to be a very hot month, both in terms of the climate and the kind of cars that will be launching in India. While there weren't many launches in India this month, there are some interesting cars coming to the market next month. Lets take a look at the cars and SUVs launching in India in May 2025.
Launch: Early May 2025
Expected Price: ₹15 - 17 lakh (ex-showroom, India)
The first launch of the month will be the bigger battery variant of MG’s popular Windsor EV. Currently, the compact electric SUV comes with a 38 kWh battery pack and it is expected to get a 50.6 kWh battery. The new battery will help with Windsor EV get a range of around 460 km on a full charge, an increase of around 130 km with the existing battery pack. Other than this, not much else is expected to change in the Windsor.
Launch: May 7, 2025
Expected Price: ₹12 - 21 lakh (ex-showroom, India)
Kia India is launching a new version of the Carens, which was initially launched in India in 2022. The new version will be like a heavy facelift, however, the brand is claiming it will be an all-new vehicle. Not much is known but expect the new Carens to have the same powertrain options as the existing model. Rumours have it that Kia India will sell the new and old Carens.
Launch: May 21, 2025
Expected Price: ₹7 - 12 lakh (ex-showroom, India)
The Altroz was launched in India in 2020, and this facelift has been a long time coming. During this period, Tata Motors launched new variants of the Altroz like the CNG, DCA and Racer. Details about the facelifted Altroz remain scarce, but apart from new exterior and interior design, and new features, the Altroz facelift’s powertrain options will likely remain unchanged.
Launch: Late May, 2025
Expected Price: ₹55 - 60 lakh (ex-showroom, India)
Probably the only car that all enthusiasts are looking forward to, is the Volkswagen Golf GTI. This isn’t the first time a Volkswagen GTI model has come to India but it is the first time the Golf is making its way to the country. The Golf GTI will have a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which is likely to produce 261 bhp and 370 Nm mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, helping propel the Golf GTI from 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 kmph (claimed).
