The omission of the dual exhaust should help shed some weight of the bike.
Jawa is working on a new roadster and unlike the recently launched 42 FJ this upcoming bike was spotted without the dual-exhaust system. While the bike doesn’t sport any other changes as such, the omission of dual-exhausts strongly indicates that the bike will be lighter than the rest of its stablemates. We might also see Jawa add a new centralised underbelly exhaust system, as we can’t notice an exhaust muffler on the other side of the bike too.
The retro appeal of this test bike remains largely unchanged. And since this was an uncamouflaged test mule, you can also notice that the bike is sporting a unique matte black shade. But beyond that, rest of the elements like the split grab rail, single seat design, and the teardrop tank shape, etc have remained the same. The bike continues to be built around the same dual-cradle chassis, and it is underpinned by the same telescopic fork and dual-shock absorber.

In all probability, this upcoming Jawa 42 FJ will be powered by the latest 334 cc, Alpha-2 engine that is good for 28.80 bhp and 29.6 Nm. With that, we might also see the gear-based engine mapping on this bike, and the mill will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an assist-and-slipper clutch.
We don’t know for sure yet as to when this bike will launch in India. But given that the test mule looks nearly production ready, we reckon Jawa might launch this bike in the next two-three months. As for its price, it might be less expensive than the 42 FJ which retails at ₹1.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
