The Redmi A4 promises to bring 5G capabilities to the masses.
Xiaomi showcased its highly anticipated Redmi A4 5G at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 in New Delhi. The Redmi A4 promises to bring 5G capabilities to the masses and is the first smartphone to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 that was announced in July.
The Redmi A4 is expected to make waves in the highly competitive sub-Rs 10,000 price segment. This strategic pricing makes it one of the most affordable 5G-capable smartphones in the Indian market and will potentially accelerate 5G adoption among budget-conscious buyers.
At the IMC 2024 event, Xiaomi displayed the Redmi A4 5G in sleek black-and-white colours with a glitter effect. The phone features a circular camera island housing a dual rear camera setup headlined by the 50-megapixel primary sensor. The phone is confirmed to have a 3.5mm audio jack.
Most Redmi A4 5G specifications have been kept under wraps, but the highlight is the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 SoC.
This octa-core processor, built on Qualcomm's advanced 4nm process technology, boasts a peak clock speed of 2GHz and supports LPDDR4x RAM. The chipset's 5G Modem-RF system promises download speeds of up to 1Gbps and also enables additional features, such as support for dual-frequency GPS (L1+L5) and India's own NavIC satellite systems.
The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 also supports Full HD+ displays with a 90Hz refresh rate, and its camera capabilities are equally impressive since it is confirmed to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera.
While an exact launch date remains unannounced, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi A4 5G will hit Indian markets "soon."
