The company is positioning its new performance EV as suitable not only for track days, but also daily commutes and long road trips.
Xiaomi has formally launched the YU7 GT, its “pure blood” performance version of the popular YU7 SUV. Prices start at CNY 389,900 (approximately ₹55,07,040 before taxes), positioning this model well above the already powerful YU7 Max. Marking its launch, the first mass-produced Xiaomi YU7 GT unit has been added to the permanent collection of the Beijing Automotive Museum.
The company also announced that the YU7 GT with Track Package has set a new record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife track, with a lap time of 7:22.755, beating its own record of 7:34.931 announced a day ago, and edging out the Audi RS Q8 by a massive 13.9 seconds. Xiaomi’s test driver Ren Zhoucan has also become the first ever Chinese driver to be officially certified on the Nürburgring track.

Preorders are now open, and buyers in China who book now can get free Nappa leather quilting, driver and passenger zero-gravity seats, a powered front tailgate, HEPA air purification system, carbon fibre rearview mirrors, carbon fibre welcome pedals, a 24K gold and carbon fibre emblem, in-car smart refrigerator, and lifetime free use of Xiaomi HAD.
Xiaomi has developed next-generation motors that it calls HyperEngine V6s Plus and V8s EVO. The YU7 GT has a dual-motor setup, with a combined output of 738 kW (1003 ps, 540 Nm). Top speed is rated at 300 kmph, and it can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in 2.92 seconds. It has 21-inch wheels as standard. There’s even a 40W external speaker to deliver a sporty exhaust note.
The company is positioning its new performance EV as suitable not only for track days, but also daily commutes and long road trips. Its recently opened Europe R&D centre played a major part in its development and tuning.

Equipment includes a “track-grade” braking system, dual-valve continuously damped variable CDC shock absorbers, closed dual-chamber air springs with quick adjustment, and an electronic limited-slip differential for faster cornering. There are also oversized carbon ceramic brake discs, Akebono six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes, and high-performance brake calipers just like the SU7 Ultra sedan.
Range is rated at 705 km (CLTC). The car is built on a 897V silicon-carbon platform for rapid charging.

In terms of safety, the YU7 GT has been designed to China NCAP five-star standards, and the company is emphasising its “triple-redundant” door handle design. There’s AEB (up to 135 kmph forward and 30kmph in reverse), AES supporting two consecutive lane changes, false acceleration suppression assist, high-speed dangerous driving warning, and driver fatigue monitoring. Xiaomi says it has conducted 1,230 battery tests for safety
The interior is finished with Alcantara fabric, and Xiaomi has developed a new GT-specific design theme with carbon fibre details. The driver’s seat is adjustable 18 ways, and all seats have a massage function. Front trunk capacity is 141 litres, and combined with the 660 litre rear trunk, there’s a total of 1,740 litres of cargo capacity with the rear seats folded down.

Xiaomi Assisted Driving uses the company’s advanced XLA cognitive model. The in-car AI voice assistant is capable of understanding multiple commands in one sentence. There are five screens including the Xiaomi Sky panoramic display and a 16.1-inch 3K central screen, creating an immersive atmosphere. A 25-speaker system with Dolby Atmos and active noise cancellation is standard.
Xiaomi has used a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 SoC, Nvidia Drive AGX Thor compute platform, 11 HD cameras, 12 ultrasonic radar sensors, 4D mmWave radar, and lidar.
The YU7 GT is also available through Xiaomi’s customisation service, with exclusive colour options and leather interiors.

The company has introduced a new 20 kW home charging station priced at CNY 8999. Accessories and options for the YU7 GT include a car table, magnetic headrest, and even matching sunglasses.
The popular YU7 was launched 10 months ago, and Xiaomi says it has sold 232,000 units so far. At the other end of the price spectrum, Xiaomi has also introduced a new entry-level YU7 Standard trim priced at CNY 233,500 (approximately ₹32,98,000) with a 73 kWh battery, CLTC range of 643 km, and standard 752V silicon carbide platform. It can charge from 10-80 percent in just 20 minutes. It has the same V6s Plus super motor, capable of 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 220 kmph. The previous Standard variant has been renamed Long Range.
