The high-performance electric SUV will go on sale in China at the end of May, with a launch in Europe likely next year.
Xiaomi has confirmed the imminent launch of its high-performance YU7 GT electric SUV at the ongoing Auto China 2026 expo in Beijing. The upgraded version of the extremely popular YU7 will go on sale in China "at the end of May", according to the company's own Weibo account. While prices haven’t been announced yet, this model will be positioned well above the already powerful YU7 Max, expected to start at CNY 450,000 (ex-factory, approximately ₹62.15 lakh) as per local media. Xiaomi also confirmed reports that it is working on a larger SUV, which will be called the YU9.
While less race-focused than its sedan equivalent, the SU7 Ultra, the YU7 GT has been spotted undergoing evaluation at the Nürburgring test track. Interestingly, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun also confirmed that the YU7 GT is the company’s first model developed in conjunction with the company’s Munich R&D centre, which it inaugurated last September.

The YU7 GT, not to be confused with the Vision Gran Turismo concept, features a few cosmetic and aerodynamic changes aimed at racing enthusiasts, including a new black grille, more aggressive air intakes, a rear spoiler, and a diffuser. Buyers can expect optional accessories and packages including a distinctive badge made of carbon fibre and 24K gold.
Measuring 5,015 mm long with a 3000 mm wheelbase, the YU7 GT is also 2,007 mm wide and 1,597mm tall. It will be available in at least one exclusive colour, Cherry Red, in addition to the standard YU7’s options.
The electric SUV is equipped with 288 kW front and 450 kW rear motors, capable of 386 hp and 604 hp respectively, for a combined 738 kW and 990 hp. Top speed is 300 kmph, and claimed range on a full charge is 705km (CLTC). Other details such as acceleration have not yet been announced.
The YU7 GT also gets Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, air suspension, an active ride stability system, rear-axle torque vectoring, and advanced traction control.
While no concrete dates for international expansion have yet been announced, Xiaomi remains committed to launching in Europe in 2027. With this launch, the company is also highlighting the staff of its European R&D Centre, headed by former BMW Motorsport Technical Director Rudolf Dittrich. Other noteworthy names include Head of Vehicle Dynamics Claus-Dieter Groll, also formerly from BMW; Design Director Jean-Arthur Madelaine whose resume includes senior roles at Polestar, Stellantis, Citroën and Tesla; Fabian Schmölz-Obermeier from Automobili Lamborghini and Porsche; and many more.
