There are other new bits on the famous sport bike besides the faux carbon fibre panels
After showcasing it at the Bharat Mobility Show 2024 earlier in the year, Yamaha India launched the new R15M Carbon at ₹2,08,300 (ex-showroom Delhi). Thus, making this special edition ₹10,000 dearer than the standard R15M (now priced at ₹1,98,300). Here’s what Yamaha has updated on the bike:
The front cowl, side panels, and the two tail pieces are all bearing a carbon fibre-esque finish, giving the bike a raw and stealthy look. The finish has been achieved by using carbon fibre vinyl that has been applied by using the water-dipping method. Plus, both the R15M and the R15M Carbon will now come with a new full-black front fender, new decals all over and blue wheels.
Yamaha has also updated the digital dash of the R15M. On both standard and Carbon trims, you will get turn-by-turn navigation that can be controlled via the Y-Connect smartphone application. Earlier, the app used to only feature ride-related data statistics and we are glad that the added navigation functionality brings more usefulness to the system. Also, Yamaha has provided upgraded switches and the licence plate holder light is now LED.
At its core, the Yamaha R15M remains the same. The 155 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled VVA-equipped pocket rocket continues to enthral young riders with its 18.10 bhp and 14.2 Nm. It will continue to get the upshift-only quickshifter, slip-and-assist clutch and traction control, riding aids that aim to make the experience safer and more rewarding. No changes also reported to the lovely Deltabox chassis or the brilliantly tuned KYB suspension.
